El Jueves comenzó de costumbre, con nuestras clases con Pedro y María que siempre estuvieron muy amables. Hemos aprendido de la comida típica española, por ejemplo, tinto de verano y el jamón serrano y también hemos trabajado en nuestras presentaciones. Después de esto, fuimos al hotel antes de ir a nuestra clase de flamenco. Las chicas y los chicos disfrutaron de la clase de flamenco. Omosefe ha disfrutado más de todos los chicos de Oakham. Después de la clase nos preparamos para la última noche en Madrid y tuvimos el tiempo para ir de compras. Para Omosefe, esto fue muy importante. Antes de salir, fuimos a un restaurante típico de Madrid, donde comimos un poco de comida típica de España. Desde luego, la noche era muy divertida para todos, y pienso que no olvidaremos la comida, la gente y la cultura de Madrid y nuestros amigos allí.
Thursday began in the usual fashion, waking up early after a late night and looking forward early morning classes at the school. Today we learnt about typical Spanish food and drink, such as jamon serrano, or tinto de verano and continued to work on our various presentations. After our lessons, we had time to have some r and r, before heading out again for the long awaited Flamenco workshop, and as you can imagine with some of the male members of the group looking forward to this particular activity with some apprehension. However, the lessons turned out to be excellent fun with some of the group, i.e. Omosefe, warming to the task with slightly disconcerting levels of vigor and enthusiasm. Once the lesson was over it was finally time to prepare for the long awaited last night out. Before hitting the streets of Madrid, we went down the road to a restaurant where, you guessed it, we had more wine and tapas! The rest of the evening, was well, what can I say? The stuff of legends….

Fuimos hoy a ver una película en el centro comercial más grande de Madrid. Era duro al principio entender la película en español pero sabíamos más o menos de qué se trataba. Pudimos también ir al patinaje de hielo que era muy entretenido porque algunos de nosotros en el grupo del Oakham no habían hecho esto antes, por ejemplo Leticia y Omosefe. Por la tarde volvimos del colegio y tuvimos clases en hacer compras en Madrid. Después fuimos en nuestra propia aventura de las compras en el district del serrano. Éste es el districto más popular de las compras de la ciudad y tiene que ser dicho que era orgásmico. Después fuimos a un restaurante de los tapas poseído por un agente español famoso y teníamos un arsenal de platos españoles, el grupo también comía una cantidad inmensa de vino y la diversión en el cuarto de baño, después de que nos descubriéramos podría escribir en las paredes con tiza
Tody we went to watch a movie in the largest shopping centre in Madrid. It was hard at first to understand the movie in Spanish but we more or less knew what was going on. We were also able to go ice skating which was very entertaining as some of us in the oakham group had not done this before for example Leticia and Omosefe.
in the afternoon we returned from the shopping centre and had classes on shopping in Madrid. After, we went on our own shopping adventure in the "serrano district". This is the most popular shopping district in the city and it has to be said that it was orgasmic. We then went to a tapas resteraunt owned by a famous Spanish actor and had an array of Spanish dishes, the group also had an immense amount of wine and fun in the bathroom, after we discovered we could write on the walls with chalk!

Today was another exciting day. We did quite a lot and gained new cultural knowledge. In the morning we had classes and did a survey with the spanish students in order to prepare for our presentations which we are going to do on Friday.
After lunch in the school which was bastante mal (worse than the Barraclough!) Mr Sarna cheered us up with a short introduction to basic Yoga (those of you who have been to Launde Abbey know what we are talking about). With stimulated senses and a refreshed mind, according to the master himself, we went to the Museo del Prado. Some of the greatest works of primarily Spanish, but also French, Italian and Dutch artist were presented and admired by us in the extensive halls of the Prado.
Our evening began with dinner at a delicious seafood restaurant which offered original dishes from Galicia, an area in Spain, where the seafood is delivered from every morning! Even a few opponents of seafood could be convinced of the superior taste of octopus, clams, mussels, squid and other fish (no names mentioned, Ben). In a very nice bar with a few drinks of Sangria we brought the night to an end. Hasta la vista guapos!

Hoy estaba una día de mucha cultura: después de las clases en el instituto y una introducción corta a YOGA que estaba dado de Senor Sarna él mismo, fuimos al museo del Prado por la tarde; esto estaba lo más destacado del día. En el Prado podemos admirar obras de los pintadores más populares de los siglos 1500-1800 que nos daban una visión general del arte europeo como del arte francés, holandés, italiana y en gran medida, espanol. Especialmente las obras de Goya, Velazquez y El Greco eran muy admirable, pero desafortunadamente podemos ver solamente un parte pequeno de la gran variedad de uno de los museos más grandes de Europa.
Luego para cenar, fuimos a un restaurante gallego que ofrece platos de mariscos de calidad superior como mejillones, almejas, calamares, pulpo y mucho más.
Con algunos bebidas en un bar cerca del hostal donde quedamos habemos terminado un día más de muchas experiencias nuevas.

Day 2
Day 2
Monday started with 2 cm of snow. This is very rare in the centre of Madrid and is comparable to about 10 times the amount falling in Oakham. We took the metro to the school which was quick and easy. The school is the International School of Madrid which gives follows the English education system with A levels and GCSEs butt the vast majority of the students are Spanish. When we arrived the Head greeted us and showed us around the school which is tiny compared to Oakham as there are only 300 students. We had classes in the drama and music rooms with two teachers called Pedro and Maria.
In the afternoon we met some of the students in Upper School and they took us for a guided tour around part of the centre Madrid. We saw the Plaza Colon which is a tribute to Christopher Columbus and the Discovery of America and the students explained what the monuments were about. It was good to chat to them in Spanish and English when we were stuck! They are very friendly and kind.
At night we had dinner in El Museo de Jamon, which is the most popular museum in Madrid selling Spanish hams which hang decorously from the ceiling. We had tapas of croquettes, ham, cheese, and Spanish omelette. It was good, but we were really tired at the end of the first day of class and went back early to get some rest for the next day.
